Abstract

Fundamentalist discourse was divided into various sub-discourses in parliamentary elections in 1390. United Front of Fundamentalism and the Stability Front of the Islamic Revolution were the most important sub-discourses of the 1390 elections. The purpose of the present research is to study and analyze the sub-discourse of Fundamentalist base on Laclau and Mouffe’s (1985) Discourse Theory and Fairclough’s (1995) Critical Discourse Analysis. The results showed that the United Front of Fundamentalism emphasizing on central signifier “velayt-e-faghih” and the floating signifiers such as “justice”, “spirituality”, “service”, “islam”, “economic development” ,“ stability” “spiritual and material development” made an attempt to hegemonize their own discourse through the deconstruction and redefinition of the opponent signifiers. In contrast, the Stability Front of the Islamic Revolution representing their articulation around central signifier “velayt” and different floating signifiers like “spirituality” , justice, “values”, “service”, “stability “.
