پوچ‌واژه در زبان فارسی

چکیده

  در این مقاله به بررسی وجود یا نبودِ پوچ­واژه (expletive) در زبان فارسی می­پردازیم. طبق نظر ریتسی(1982 و 1986) در زبان­های ضمیرانداز از آنجا که ضمیر ناملفوظ ارجاعی وجود دارد، ضمیر ناملفوظ پوچ­واژه (expletive pro) نیز موجود است؛ بدین مفهوم که زبان­های ضمیرانداز پوچ­واژۀ فاقد جوهر آوایی نیز دارند. این در حالی است که کریمی(2005) با توجّه به نقض تأثیر معرفگی (definiteness effect) معتقد است که در زبان فارسی پوچ‌واژۀ تهی یا آشکار وجود ندارد. در مقالۀ حاضر به پیروی از درزی (1996) با ارائۀ شواهد متنوعی نشان می­دهیم که در زبان فارسی به­عنوان زبانی ضمیرانداز نه­تنها پوچ­واژۀ آشکار وجود دارد، بلکه مطابق با نظر ریتسی پوچ­واژۀ تهی نیز در این زبان یافت می­شود. سرانجام، شواهدی از زبان­های ایسلندی، فنلاندی و پرتغالی ارائه می­شود که بیانگر این است که ضمیرانداز بودن و نقض تأثیر معرفگی لزوماً دال بر نبود پوچ­واژه در یک زبان نیست.

چکیده [English]

The present study investigates the existence of expletives in Persian. Rizzi (1982, 1986) suggests that pro-drop languages, by virtue of licensing pro, would have empty non-referential subjects. However, Karimi (2005) takes the violation of Definiteness Effect in Persian as indicating that neither overt nor covert expletives exist in this language. Following Darzi (1996), we present pieces of evidence to show that Persian has overt expletives.  We then present arguments in support of Rizzi's (1982, 1986) hypothesis that pro-drop languages may have covert expletives as well. Finally, we provide cross-linguistic pieces of evidence from Icelandic, Finnish and Portuguese to suggest that being a pro-drop language or violating the Definiteness Effect in a language does not necessarily entail the absence of expletives in that language.
